Case summary: Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility

This work was carried out under the Infrastructure and Cities for Economic Development (ICED) facility.

ICED supported DFID country offices, central teams and ODA-spending Other Government Departments to deliver DFID’s Economic Development Strategy by scaling up programming and investment in infrastructure and cities. It operated between February 2016 and July 2019.

Nigeria’s power sector value chain suffered from debilitating obstacles such as chronic underinvestment, system inefficiencies, poor planning and skill gaps. The Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility is a demand-driven technical assistance programme, supported the Federal Government of Nigeria to address these infrastructure bottlenecks, freeing up non-oil growth in the wider economy.
