Introduction
As the impacts of climate change intensify, the way we plan, deliver and manage infrastructure must adapt to meet rising risks and uncertainties. This module explores how infrastructure can support a climate-resilient future.
In developing countries, low-carbon and climate-resilient infrastructure goes hand in hand with the need to close the infrastructure gap. Addressing social equity and inclusion is paramount when planning climate-resilient infrastructure, particularly where existing infrastructure is inadequate, climate-sensitive and vulnerable to destruction from natural disasters, disproportionately affecting marginalised communities.
Adopting a low-carbon and resilient approach throughout the entire infrastructure lifecycle, from design and construction to operation and eventual decommissioning, is vital to maximise long-term benefits for both the people and the planet.

Climate, Environment and Nature Helpdesk
The UK government funded Climate, Environment and Nature (CLEAN) Helpdesk, provides free, on-demand technical assistance to UK government officials working to improve climate, environment and nature mainstreaming across ODA eligible initiatives. Gender equity, disability and social inclusion (GEDSI) is mainstreamed across all our work. All resources are available in CLEAN resource library. UK Government staff should register for full access to sensitive documents.
