Infrastructure and Projects Authority

The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) is the UK Government’s Centre of Expertise for infrastructure and major projects. The IPA provides expert project delivery advice, support and assurance to the wider UK Government and industry to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and effectively, and to improve performance over time.

The IPA’s international unit is its primary strategic resource for promoting and sharing UK infrastructure expertise, standards and tools internationally, and for working with industry bodies to foster the UK’s reputation and market presence overseas. As a delivery partner under the Green Cities and Infrastructure Centre of Expertise, priorities that can be supported by IPA international expertise include:

  • International training and support for capacity building, with subject matter experts within the IPA organising and delivering tailored training on the planning, delivery and financing of infrastructure programmes and projects.
  • Short- to medium-term targeted technical advisory support, such as the selection of appropriate public–private partnership pilot projects, review of operational projects and development of guidance and methodologies that public authorities need to prepare and manage projects.
  • Longer-term strategic support for, for example, the design of policies and regulations, the development of infrastructure investment programmes, and the enhancement of public sector capacity, including developing, training and implementing a public–private partnership delivery unit.

Through this and other support, the IPA is contributing to the efficient and effective delivery of projects for greener, more sustainable cities throughout Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
