As the UK's national standards body and global leader in developing and using British, European and international standards, BSI has for over a century collaborated with more than 84,000 clients globally across many industries. BSI helps organisations tackle society’s critical issues – from climate change to building trust in AI and everything in between.
As part of the GCIE Centre of Expertise, BSI has developed a roadmap for resilient infrastructure in the Caribbean and provided a preliminary assessment of the materials testing laboratory at the Ministry of Infrastructure in St Lucia, in collaboration with the St Lucia Bureau of Standards. In Fiji, BSI has laid the groundwork for updating minimum energy performance standards regulation, with focus to air conditioning energy performance requirements. BSI has also supported the development of a standards framework for solar photovoltaic installations.
BSI’s expertise and key priorities include:
- Built environment: Assisting the use of international standards to support sustainability, resilience, procurement, digital construction, Building Information Modelling and smart cities.
- Sustainable cities: Advising international best practice for water and waste management, circular economy, transport, sustainable finance, climate action and energy.
- Strengthening the regulatory environment: Collaborating with private and public sectors to innovate, striking the balance between regulation and voluntary standards, and building capacity for the use and development of standards.
